We are delighted to announce that the Penventon Park Hotel has been awarded prestigious Four Star status by the AA.
As many of you will have noticed, we have been undertaking major refurbishments throughout the hotel. So far, we have invested over £1.5m to bring the hotel rooms and facilities to the high standard of luxury required by the AA for this Award. Forty of the 65 bedrooms have been significantly upgraded with modern, high quality fixtures and fittings that include walk-in monsoon showers, double-ended baths, Ralph Lauren fabrics, Farrow & Ball paint, our individually-designed “steamer trunk” mini-bar units and of course, the most comfortable top-of-the-range beds we could find. Work on the remaining bedrooms will begin in the autumn.
We have also been working hard on the public areas. The most striking of these changes is perhaps the Gin Bar, designed and made in bespoke copper by leading local artisan Michael Johnson. Michael tells the story of this project on the Copper Works, Newlyn website.
Less obvious perhaps, until you have sat in one for a little while, are the added comforts in the dining room and conference spaces. The leather-back armchairs have been created by hand, not only to look stunning but to be ergonomically designed and comfortable – whichever side you are turning to to engage in conversation.
Our Four Star status also recognises the dedication that has gone into developing and improving our food and drink offer. The restaurant has recently achieved a second AA Rosette and we will shortly welcome our new Head Chef, Andrew West-Letford, with former Rick Stein instructor Keith Brooksbank heading up the culinary team as Executive Chef. Behind the bar, the choices are dazzling. With over 160 types of gin and 220 selected bins of wine to choose from, we are fast becoming a destination for adventurous connoisseurs who appreciate the finer things in life.
Rooms, food and drink aside, we would of course be nothing without our staff. Four Star status recognises that our staff are always proactive, anticipating your needs and looking after all guests in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner. Many of our staff come from the local community and we grow our own talent through Apprenticeships and our Management Training Scheme, aiming not only for the Four Star level of service as defined by the AA, but also to reach the fully personalised service our guests deserve.
Our director, Aaron Pascoe told us, “Everyone has worked really hard towards four-star status and I’d like to thank the whole team for their efforts. The Penventon Park Hotel has evolved into a sophisticated venue, where guests can escape the ordinary, and enjoy some decadent luxury. The refurbishment is ongoing and our goal is to continue to delight our guests and achieve even more prestigious accolades.”
Robert Martin, Hotel & Restaurant Inspector for the AA explained, “Having visited Penventon Park Hotel over the past several years as part of my work with AA Hotel Services it has been noted that there has been a considerable shift in quality and service this last year. A family run business which offered a very good product has now been moved onto a fully managed operation with a sound overall guest offering. An AA rating of Four Stars has been achieved and is well deserved. With his years of experience, General Manager Mr Rajesh Joshi has steered Penventon Park Hotel in the right direction, with an ever improving level of service noted.”
Whether to stay in one of our luxurious new rooms, tempt your tastebuds with our AA 2 Rosette Menu or sample the delights of the gin bar, we look forward to welcoming you to the Penventon Park Hotel soon.
